Credits & Usage

Appilot uses AI Credits to measure your usage. Each interaction with the AI assistant consumes credits based on the complexity of the request.

How Credits Work

  • 1 AI Credit represents a unit of AI processing power
  • Simple questions (like "what is this page about?") use fewer credits
  • Complex tasks (multi-step analysis, form filling guidance) use more credits
  • Your credit balance is visible in the Chrome Extension panel and in My Account

Checking Your Balance

In the Chrome Extension

Your remaining credits are displayed in the panel header as a small badge. Click it to see a summary of your usage.

In My Account

Navigate to Credits & Usage in the sidebar to see:

  • Your balance, written as remaining out of granted, with three figures beneath it: Granted, Used and Remaining. The bar fills with what you have spent, so 60 credits spent out of 100 granted reads "40.0 / 100" with the bar at 60%
  • Daily usage chart (last 30 days)
  • Usage breakdown by domain/application
  • Transaction history showing each credit charge

Credit Types

Your credits come from different sources, each with different rules:

TypeHow You Get ThemExpiration
Plan creditsAutomatically allocated each billing cycle from your subscriptionExpire after a set number of days (depends on your plan)
Purchased creditsTop-ups bought once self-serve billing opensNever expire
Bonus creditsGranted by an administratorNever expire
Trial creditsOne-time allocation for new accountsNever expire

Credits are consumed in order from oldest to newest (FIFO). Expired plan credits are automatically skipped.

Where your credits come from

Appilot is in closed beta, so there is nothing to buy yet. Every balance is granted: a one-time trial allocation when your access request is approved, and further grants from your organization's administrator or from us. When self-serve plans open, this page will name the allowances that come with them.

If you run out, or your balance runs low, use Ask for more in the extension panel or Ask the Appilot team for more on the Credits & Usage page in My Account. The request reaches the team with the reason your assistant stopped and its reference, so nobody has to ask you what happened. You can send one request at a time; the page tells you when you already asked.

Spend Caps

There is no personal spend cap. Credits are granted before they are spent, so the grant is the ceiling: when the balance reaches zero the assistant stops until the next allocation or a top-up. Under organization coverage an administrator can set a per-user monthly cap, described below.

Organization-Sponsored Usage

If your organization covers your usage, the balance you see is the organization's, labelled Paid by with its name. Beneath it, Your usage this month is your own consumption, against your per-user cap if an administrator set one. The two figures answer different questions: the balance is shared with everyone the organization covers, the usage is yours alone.

The movements listed further down the page stay filtered to you. An ordinary member does not see the whole organization ledger, which would name other members' sites and spend.

Usage Visibility in the Extension

When your organization sponsors your usage, the extension Settings view shows:

  • Org credits remaining: the organization's overall credit balance
  • Your usage: X / Y credits: your personal consumption within the current billing period, relative to your per-user cap (if one is set)

This helps you stay aware of both the organization's budget and your individual consumption.

When the assistant cannot answer

When a message is refused, the panel says why and who can fix it, and prints a reference line such as NO_CREDITS · 402 · ref 3f2a… with Copy details. Quote that line if you write to support: it points the team at the exact request.

The extension also shows a banner while the refusal lasts, or when your balance drops below a fifth of what was granted, and the Assistant access row in Settings and the card on My Account's Credits & Usage page show the same state.

SituationWhat the panel tells you
Your allowance is used up (closed beta)"Your allowance is used up." The Appilot team grants it, so the panel offers Ask for more
You pay for yourself and ran out"You have run out of credits."
Your organization ran out"Your organization has used up its credits." An administrator of your organization can add more
Per-user cap reached"You have reached the monthly limit your organization set for you."
Your organization's plan is not activeSaid plainly, with who can renew it: your administrator, or the Appilot team during the closed beta
Your organization is suspended or awaiting approvalOnly the Appilot team can change it
Too many messages at once, or today's limitWait and try again; the daily limit resets tomorrow
The allowance could not be checkedNothing is wrong with your account. The panel retries once, then offers Try again

If you pay for yourself, no message mentions a subscription: a subscription is how an organization pays, and it is never required of you.
