Welcome to Appilot
Appilot is the platform that adds intelligence to any web app. Under your control, its AI does two things for the people who use it: it helps them operate the app, and it acts on their behalf. As coverage grows, those same interactions also show organizations where users struggle and why.
No changes to your existing application required. Appilot works on top of what you already have.
Choose your path
Appilot documentation is organized by audience. Pick the guide that matches your role:
I'm an End User
"I want Appilot to help me get things done."
You use Appilot as an assistant while working on web applications: filling out forms, understanding complex processes, or getting answers without leaving the page.
I'm a Developer
"I want to make my web application intelligent."
You want to integrate Appilot into your own web application so your users get AI that helps them operate it and acts on their behalf, directly on your site, with nothing to install.
I'm an Admin / Knowledge Owner
"I want to manage what Appilot knows and how it helps my users."
You manage your organization's knowledge base, configure domains, handle user requests, and measure the impact of the assistant.
What Appilot does
Under your control, Appilot's AI does two things for the people who use an app: it helps them operate it (screen-anchored, step-by-step guidance) and it acts on their behalf (executing defined Tools when the user asks). Every response is classified for honesty, and every interaction is logged and auditable.
How Appilot is delivered
Appilot reaches your users two ways, with no change to the host application:
| Chrome Extension | Embeddable Widget | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A browser extension users install | A Web Component you embed in your site |
| Who installs it | The end user | The developer / site owner |
| Authentication | User login (JWT) | Widget API key (domain-bound) |
| Works on | Any website | Your website specifically |
| On-premise | Self-hosted .crx file | Same JS file, pointed to own backend |
| Best for | Internal teams, power users, support agents | Customer-facing apps, SaaS products |
Both share the same intelligence: they understand page context, access the organization's knowledge base, and give grounded answers.
Beyond these two delivery surfaces, Appilot includes two management panels: the Backoffice for organization admins to manage knowledge, apps, and domains, and My Account for individual users to manage their profile, preferences, and activity.

Core capabilities
- Two ways to help: it guides people to operate the app themselves, and it acts on their behalf through defined Tools when asked
- Contextual understanding: reads forms, fields, page structure, and UI state to understand what the user is doing
- Honest, governed answers: every response is classified for trust (verified, documented, inferred, or "no answer"), and every interaction is auditable
- Knowledge-grounded answers: responses come from your organization's curated knowledge
- Demand-driven improvement: when users ask questions that can't be answered, those gaps are captured as actionable requests
- Privacy by design: PII masking, user consent controls, and enterprise-grade data isolation
- Multi-tenant architecture: each organization's data is fully isolated with configurable AI providers and settings
